One of my husband’s favorite foods is Indian cuisine. We discovered a wonderful restaurant in Katy, Texas for Ruben to get his ‘Indian fix’ called Udipi Cafe. Our family ordered their Sunday lunch buffet and EVERYTHING was delicious and fresh! The restaurant is completely vegetarian and prepares dishes from Southern India. I never knew that vegetables could taste so good! In addition to the items served on the buffet, the staff prepared a made to order dosai for each of us. Even my son, a devout carnivore, loved it!
Another benefit to visiting Udipi Cafe is that it sits next door to KT Bombay Bazaar (949 S Mason Road). This is a supermarket that features all of the ingredients that you could possibly need to prepare from scratch a wonderful Indian style dinner. It also carries an extensive selection of cooked and frozen Indian foods. I took home naan, plantains, various spices and Bru Instant Coffee and Roasted Chicory. I am inspired to dust off the Indian cookbook on my shelf and give it a try!

Do you love to barbecue as much as I love to barbecue? It is some of my favorite food! May is a great month to kick off the season with some grilled or smoked foods. Whenever my father-in-law visits us from Florida, his first request is always to go out to a restaurant for Texas barbecue! Some of the best restaurants in our area for this are:
Red River BBQ & Grill
1711 S Mason Road
606 South Mason Road
Spring Creek Barbeque
21000 Katy Freeway

April is National Volunteer Month and there is no shortage of volunteer opportunities in Katy, Texas! Just look around you… schools, churches, libraries, museums, hospitals… all need volunteers.
A “volunteer” is defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as “a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task.” Being a volunteer will improve your life, as well as the lives of others.
Spend some time giving of yourself in April and all year round: VOLUNTEER!
