Ephesus Mediterranean Grill located at 510 S Mason Road attempts to transport you, at least in culinary terms, to Ephesus, Turkey. Ephesus is a historic city in Turkey known for its historic sites, particularly its huge collection of Roman ruins. This authentic family owned Turkish restaurant serves tasty, fresh, quality food typical to Turkey. Our group enjoyed the humus, the mixed grill with filet mignon and gyro, the chicken kebob, and the grilled vegetable plate. This will not be our last visit to Ephesus!
If you are itching to try something different to eat in Katy, go to Kenzo Sushi Bistro located at 23501 Cinco Ranch Boulevard in the the La Centera shopping center. This elegant restaurant features Asian Fusion and Sushi Zen cuisine. Our group ordered several items including the Miso Soup, the House Salad, the Kobe Beef Mini Burger with Potato Wedges, the Teriyaki Chicken, the Bulgogi, and the Hot Stone Bibimbab. All were delicious, however the most unique was the Hot Stone Bibimbab. This dish is served in a steaming hot volcanic bowl that contains rice, vegetables, beef, and an egg on top of it all. Hot sauce for you to add, is served on the side. As you are eating, the hot bowl continues to toast the rice, creating a crunchy crust. Give it a try!

One of my husband’s favorite foods is Indian cuisine. We discovered a wonderful restaurant in Katy, Texas for Ruben to get his ‘Indian fix’ called Udipi Cafe. Our family ordered their Sunday lunch buffet and EVERYTHING was delicious and fresh! The restaurant is completely vegetarian and prepares dishes from Southern India. I never knew that vegetables could taste so good! In addition to the items served on the buffet, the staff prepared a made to order dosai for each of us. Even my son, a devout carnivore, loved it!
Another benefit to visiting Udipi Cafe is that it sits next door to KT Bombay Bazaar (949 S Mason Road). This is a supermarket that features all of the ingredients that you could possibly need to prepare from scratch a wonderful Indian style dinner. It also carries an extensive selection of cooked and frozen Indian foods. I took home naan, plantains, various spices and Bru Instant Coffee and Roasted Chicory. I am inspired to dust off the Indian cookbook on my shelf and give it a try!
