NEA’s Read Across America Day
I made the first pledge from Katy, Texas, by pledging to read at least one Dr. Seuss book everyday for two weeks to my granddaughter, Carina! Join me!
On March 2nd, parents, teachers and students will make a special effort to promote reading. This day celebrates the birthday of beloved children’s author, Dr. Seuss, by encouraging reading.
Read Across America Day was founded in 1997 by the National Education Association (NEA), which is an organization that represents teachers and education support professionals.
The book, “The Lorax,” will be featured this year, and the NBC/ Universal film, “The Lorax,” will be released on March 2nd to kick off the Read Across America campaign. The 2012 theme is green.
Log ontowww.readacrossamerica.org and pledge an activity to commemorate this day and to encourage reading in your community.
Also, if you purchase books through betterworldbooks.com, another book will be donated to charity.
