Spruce Up Your Shelving On The Cheap
I have been trying to keep my office organized and finally decided that I needed an extra bookcase. I found some that I liked at IKEA, but they were too expensive.
In order to save some money, I kept my eyes peeled on craigslist and got lucky: a white three-shelf Mainstay bookcase for only $10. The best part? It was already assembled!
I loved the look of these shelves because of the bright painted interior and decided to do something more cost effective and less time consuming for a similar look.
Add a design to your shelving with gift wrapping paper or scrapbook paper:
- Buy cute paper (I got mine from the dollar store)
- Take out the shelves if you can
- Cut one large piece of the paper to fit the interior back of your bookcase (this is what I did) or measure the back of each shelf and cut accordingly
- Use a few small pieces of tape on each side to keep the paper in place
I also really like this idea because it is so easy to change up the look!

A few more ideas: Don’t my flowers look pretty? Fake flowers are a very easy way to brighten a room without requiring a lot of upkeep. I got these three stems and the glass vase for $17 at Garden Ridge in Katy. The ribbon was part of my huge scrapbooking/gift wrapping collection and probably came as part of a gift from someone else. The box is from some stationery that I used up.
