Divorced beauty queen, Birdee Calvert-Pruitt, returns with her young daughter, Bernice, to her hometown of Smithville, Texas, after discovering her husband having an affair with her best friend. Depressed, she moves in with her mother, and attempts to get back on her feet while fending off jabs from old “friends.” Although he is complex, a new love interest, Justin Matisse, helps her through it.
