I am always looking for tasty, healthy meals. This recipe with sauteed zucchini and tomatoes was adapted from Skinnytaste. I followed her suggestion and added some pasta to make it a full meal. My daughter, Carina, helped me chop the organic zucchini and dropped the pieces into the pan – she loves to cook and bake. By her request, we had homemade blueberry muffins for dessert!

Our dining experience can be summed up by three words: fresh, delicious, unique.
My family and I ate at DaVinci’s last night and had a wonderful, authentic Italian meal! I ordered the Flounder Fiorentina, my husband had the Osso Bucco Milanese, and my daughter and son-in-law ate the Petti di Pollo alla Da Vinci. We all enjoyed our respective dishes and look forward to returning again soon. In addition to their regular menu, Da Vinci’s offers Nightly Specials.
Finally, an added feature of this fine establishment is their “At Home Dinner” menu! For $10.95 a person, you can select a wonderful three course meal that includes a starter, a main course, and a dessert.
Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defines “kolache” as “a bun made of rich sweet yeast-leavened dough filled with jam or fruit pulp.”
The Kolache Factory defines “kolache” as “a warm, delicious, slightly sweet fresh-baked pastry traditionally filled with sausage, cheese, or fruit.”
Kolaches originated during the 1700s in Eastern Europe. The Kolache Factory actually features 25 different kolaches, in addition to coffee, strudel, cinnamon rolls, croissants, and other baked goods.
John and Jerri Banks founded the Kolache Factory in 1982 in Houston, Texas. It is currently recognized as one of the Top 5 Drive-thru’s in America, one of the fastest growing companies in Houston, one of the top 50 foodservice bakeries in the United States, and one of the top 20 bakery-cafes to watch.
Go and visit the Kolache Factory on Westheimer Pkwy. In addition to the corporate headquarters, this location houses its research and development department and a retail store! You can also enjoy kolaches at any of the Kolache Factory’s 17 company-owned and 12 franchise stores in Houston.
They do catering, sponsor local sports teams, and recently opened a Cinco Ranch location at 231 S. Mason Rd. (281-398-8700)!
