Each year on February 2 since 1887, thousands of revelers climb atop Gobblers Knob in Punxsutawney, Pa., to witness the prediction of Punxsutawney Phil, a groundhog with the mythical ability of forecasting either an early spring or lengthier winter. With the help of his keepers and protectors, the tuxedo-clad members of the mysterious Inner Circle, Phil shares that annual prediction with the world from the heart of the region appropriately known as the Pennsylvania Wilds.
The Katy Culture & Arts Alliance and Multiplicity present
the Art of CAROL ADAMS & MIKE HORN for the first time!
Carol is a native Houstonian residing in Katy since 1992. She describes her works as:
“I love the freedom of working with wood. I don’t always know what I am working with, so I never know what I’ll find as the wood turns on the lathe. Each piece creates itself and as the rings and grain are revealed you learn about what may have happened both to the tree and in the world it grew in. You don’t get a second chance when working with wood, if you mess up it is ruined. So this medium, like life, comes with the potential for great disappointment or great satisfaction.”
Mike is a newcomer to Katy, recently moving to our area a few months ago. He is originally from Rifle, Colorado and has been working with his ink and metal medium for 12 years.
