This is a new twist in the world of fitness gyms. Located at 23222 Kingsland Blvd., Suite H, Katy, Texas 77494, (281)347-5050, the target customer is the fifty and over set.
As a member myself of that sub-group, I was very interested to learn about what they have to offer. With both an on-site physical therapist and a fitness coach, Nifty After Fifty offers, among other things, customized training, group exercise classes, a nutrition program, SCI-Fit Cardiovascular Steppers, and Keiser strength training equipment.
A great feature is that memberships are month to month and no contract is required. This program was founded by Sheldon S. Zinberg, M.D., a prominent and published expert on fitness and disease management of seniors.
Computers, DVD’s, iPods… all great, but don’t forget that the most important tool in your child’s school bag is a library card! The ability to read is key to any child’s academic success. The American Library Association reminds parents this month that a library card is the most important school supply of all. A library also serves as a sanctuary, a safe meeting place, and a place to explore new innovation and the world. In addition to books and computers, libraries offer programs for infants through senior citizens, homework help, job search assistance, and financial information.
Barnes and Noble is sponsoring a childrens’ summer reading program, where for every eight books your child reads, he or she can qualify for a free book! It is open to children grades one through six. The program runs from May 24 to September 6. Just fill out a store-provided book log and your child will be given a list of free book selections.
