This summer, I took a class at the University of Houston Law Center on Human Trafficking. Each week, different speakers would present their area of work as part of the fight against modern-day slavery. The course opened my eyes to these crimes against humanity as well as to the large network of organizations all working together to fight this growing problem.
This September is Houston’s 6th Annual Human Trafficking Awareness Month, during which the Houston Rescue and Restore Coalition, along with many community partners, is hosting a variety of events. These events serve as a way to spread awareness and to inform the community on how it can help take a stand against human trafficking globally, and in our area.
