One of my husband’s favorite foods is Indian cuisine. We discovered a wonderful restaurant in Katy, Texas for Ruben to get his ‘Indian fix’ called Udipi Cafe. Our family ordered their Sunday lunch buffet and EVERYTHING was delicious and fresh! The restaurant is completely vegetarian and prepares dishes from Southern India. I never knew that vegetables could taste so good! In addition to the items served on the buffet, the staff prepared a made to order dosai for each of us. Even my son, a devout carnivore, loved it!
Another benefit to visiting Udipi Cafe is that it sits next door to KT Bombay Bazaar (949 S Mason Road). This is a supermarket that features all of the ingredients that you could possibly need to prepare from scratch a wonderful Indian style dinner. It also carries an extensive selection of cooked and frozen Indian foods. I took home naan, plantains, various spices and Bru Instant Coffee and Roasted Chicory. I am inspired to dust off the Indian cookbook on my shelf and give it a try!
For reasonably priced furniture, a great selection, and friendly service check out Plantation Furniture located at 1247 FM 359 in Richmond, Texas. I had been searching for some new pieces for quite some time, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and affordability offered by this store. They carry a lot of merchandise, and most can be picked up or delivered from their warehouse quickly. Many of the items for sale are floor samples and appropriate discounts have been taken. It is worth the time and effort to go to Plantation Furniture. Before making your next furniture purchase, check them out!
We have already been back to Candelari’s Pizzeria located at 6825 South Fry Road, Katy, Texas three times! As New Yorkers, who grew up on authentic New York pizza, we can affirm that Candelari’s cheese pizza is as close to a New York pizza in Texas that we have tasted! The cheese, sauce and crust are identical, and it has the famous New York style pizza feature of a drip of oil. What a treat! Others have already discovered Candelari’s, as last night they had a packed house. Don’t let that dissuade you. Additional comfortable outdoor seating is available. We will definitely be returning to Candelari’s! Mangia!
Happy New Year! We have been MIA, mainly due to law school exams, the holidays, and just being busy! Here are a few photos to catch us up for the new year!
Here is a small selection of my ever-growing collection of law school textbooks. 🙂
We’ve had lots of fun over the holidays, entertaining and meeting up with friends and family that we don’t normally get to spend time with.
I happily brought out my beautiful Seville Wedgwood China.
This is my favorite menorah. It was a wedding gift from my parents and is handmade with precious stones by Israeli-born artist, Michal Golan.
Carina and I completed her first gingerbread house!
I have also enjoyed fixing up my house and putting up my new gallery wall in the kitchen. We had beautiful family photos taken by my friend Caroline at Caroline Iris Photography here in Katy. I added this family name plaque that I bought on etsy, from Off Woodland Lane. My parents loved our plaque so much that I gifted one for their 29th anniversary on December 30th.
Our 4th anniversary is on January 2nd, and I found this beautiful card designed by Taylor Swift for American Greetings – we had a beach honeymoon, so it is quite fitting.
As we enter the new year, I am excited about my next semester of classes and about continuing to grow this blog and our presence in Katy, Texas!
