George Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas

Did you know that Texas is home to three presidential libraries?
This is more than any other state in the United States!

Presidential libraries contain important historical documents and artifacts, as well as museums that sponsor educational programs.

For history buffs, like the members of my family, these are wonderful places to visit and learn.

A current special exhibit runs from September 1, 2011 to July 29, 2012, and is entitled “Headed to the White House.” It is an interactive exhibit that includes includes hands-on activities that explore the presidential election process from primaries through inauguration.

Beginning December 2011, the LBJ Library will be undergoing a major redesign that will culminate in a grand opening scheduled for December  2012. Its exhibits will incorporate new technology with interactive elements. Most of the present library, however, will remain open to the public during this redesign.

Lewisville, Texas is the temporary location for the presidential library and is not open to the public.The permanent Presidential Center will be located on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and is expected to be dedicated and opened to the public in 2013.
