PetroSkills is the world’s leading petroleum training alliance. What does that mean? In 2001 , BP, Shell, and Oil and Gas Consultants International formed the PetroSkills alliance in order to set an industry standard in petroleum technical training. It has since then been joined by Halliburton, Saudi Aramco, Occidental Petroleum, ConocoPhillips, Chevron, Repsol YPF, Marathon, Swift Energy, PTTEP, Woodside Petroleum, Baker Hughes, BG Group, Nexen Inc., Talisman Energy, MOL, Pertamina, Maersk Oil, TTG Systems, John M. Campbell & Company, the University of Trinidad & Tobago, and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). The alliance provides training, consulting, and software to the petroleum industry. PetroSkills holds more than 1000 sessions yearly, hires more than 200 instructors, and has trained over 335,000 individuals throughout the world. It chose Katy, Texas to establish a 325,000 square foot training center due to Katy’s “warm climate, friendly people, and a wide variety of cultural, historical and special events during their training experience.” The Conference Center’s grand opening was held on January 14, 2011. The facility features state of the art meeting rooms and technology.
